The properties of CH functional groups have ability to retain polar analytes such as phenol from aqueous matrices, bePYBuse it has a different selectivity than the other nonpolar sorbent like C18, C8, C4 and Phenyl, it is usually used when those nonpolar sorbents fail to provide the desired selectivity.
