Features
ASTM D-445-446, ASTM D2515, ISO 3104-3105 and UNE 400313 Cannon-Fenske Routine Viscometers quickly and easily measure the viscosities of transparent Newtonian liquids. Sample volume: aprox. 7 ml. Precision: ±0.2%. With constant value indication at +40 ºC and +100ºC.
All capillary viscometers are supplied with the calibration certificate issued in accor- dance with the conditions of accreditation granted by a National Metrological Register which has assessed the measurement capability of the laboratory, the test uncertainty and its traceability to recognized international standards UKAS.
* We offer many types of glass capillary viscometers that are not listed in our catalog. We can also manufacture glass capillary viscometers with customer-specified constants. Viscometers with special constants, added temps, and before/after data are available by special order.

Versatile and Standards-CompliantMeeting both ASTM D445 and ISO 3104, the Cannon-Fenske Routine Viscometer is ideal for R&D, quality control, and routine analysis across multiple industries. It is commonly used for precise viscosity measurements in petroleum, chemical, and pharmaceutical liquids. Each viscometer is individually numbered for tracking and identification.
Clear Readings and Easy MaintenanceAll viscometers in this series offer clear, permanent graduation markings, ensuring accurate readings every time. Constructed from borosilicate glass, they resist chemical corrosion and facilitate simple cleaning with standard solvents, maintaining their performance over extended use.
Effortless, Reliable OperationThe viscometer is mounted vertically in a temperature-controlled bath, allowing gravity-based measurement without the need for electrical power. Measurement is straightforward, and results are highly accuratetypically within 0.2% of the measured value.
FAQs of Cannon-Fenske Routine Viscometer:
Q: How is the Cannon-Fenske Routine Viscometer operated?
A: The viscometer operates using a simple, gravity-driven process. It is suspended vertically in a temperature-controlled bath, and you manually fill it with a liquid sample. The time it takes the liquid to pass between marked points determines its kinematic viscosity.
Q: What types of liquids can be analyzed with this viscometer?
A: This viscometer is designed to measure the kinematic viscosity of transparent liquids, making it suitable for use with petroleum products, various chemicals, and pharmaceutical samples.
Q: When should I use the Cannon-Fenske Routine Viscometer over other types?
A: This instrument is ideal for routine and quality control applications, especially when FAST, accurate measurements of transparent liquids are required, and compliance with ASTM D445 or ISO 3104 is necessary.
Q: Where is the viscometer typically used?
A: The viscometer is used in laboratory environments, such as petroleum, chemical, and pharmaceutical labs, where controlled temperatures are available to achieve precise viscosity readings.
Q: What is the cleaning process for the viscometer?
A: Cleaning is straightforward: rinse the viscometer with standard laboratory solvents compatible with borosilicate glass. This ensures removal of residual liquid and maintains measurement accuracy.
Q: What are the main benefits of using the Cannon-Fenske Routine Viscometer?
A: Key benefits include high accuracy (0.2%), manual operation without the need for external power, compliance with international standards, durable borosilicate construction, and ease of cleaning, making it efficient for repeated analyses.
Q: How do I know the measurement capacity and range for my viscometer model?
A: Each model is marked with a serial number and specifies its capacity (2 to 25 mL) and measurement range (0.5 to 1000 mm/s). Select the model suitable for your sample volume and desired viscosity range.
