FAQs of NACCAF 16/38 (manual) - Coal Ash Fusibility Test Furnaces:

Q: How do I operate the NACCAF 16/38 coal ash fusibility test furnace?

A: To operate the NACCAF 16/38 furnace, load your coal ash samples on the refractory plate sample holder (up to 16 or 38 cones). Set the desired temperature and heating rate using the digital temperature controller. Monitor the process through the heat-resistant glass observation window. The furnace should be used manually as per the standard test protocols.

Q: What is the recommended process for testing ash fusibility in this furnace?

A: Arrange the prepared ash cones on the sample holder, close the insulated front-opening door, and set the temperature to the target value (up to 1600C). The furnace will heat at a maximum rate of 20C/min. Observe changes through the viewing window and record the temperatures at which the cones deform, as per IS 1350 Part 1 or ASTM D1857 procedures.

Q: When should the furnaces over-temperature protection system be checked?

A: It is advisable to check the over-temperature protection system periodically, ideally before each test cycle, to ensure the furnace shuts off or alerts in the event of excessive heating. This maintains laboratory safety and instrument integrity.

Q: Where can the NACCAF 16/38 furnace be used?

A: This furnace is suitable for coal laboratories, research institutions, quality control labs, and industrial facilities where coal ash fusibility testing is required. Its robust construction and adherence to international standards make it ideal for regular use in professional environments.

Q: What are the primary benefits of using this coal ash fusibility furnace?

A: The NACCAF 16/38 provides highly accurate temperature control (5C), uniform heating, and efficient batch processing (up to 16 or 38 cones). The manual operation allows flexibility, while safety features and durable construction ensure long-term, reliable use.

Q: How often should maintenance be performed on this furnace?

A: Routine maintenance, such as inspecting heating elements, checking ceramic fiber insulation, and cleaning observation glass, should be carried out monthly or as per usage frequency. Detailed instructions are typically found in the manufacturers manual.
