Product Description

The NACGVC Wire Embedded Three Zone Tube Furnaces use wire elements that are embedded into the insulation of the furnace body so as to enable the use of a range of accessory work-tubes. Unlike the NACGHC Tube Furnace where the furnace and controller are a single unit the GVC range has the furnace body mounted onto a 'Versatile' stand and is controlled from a separate module connected via a 2 metre conduit.

The uniform temperature zone of a tube furnace is considerably longer if the ends of the tube are heated slightly more than the middle so as to compensate for thermal losses from the tube ends. This is the basis for the 3 zone furnace.

Like the other G series wire embedded furnaces, the GVC range provides the flexibility of being able to use accessory work-tubes selected for the physical or chemical properties needed for the user's task.

Standard Features

  • 1200°C maximum operating temperature
  • Provides a longer uniform zone than can be achieved in a single zone tube furnace
  • Heated lengths of 450, 600, 750, 900, 1050 or 1200 mm
  • Accepts work tubes with outer diameter up to 170 mm
  • End zone control is via back to back thermocouples
  • Supplied with versatile stand for vertical, wall mounted and horizontal use
  • Carbolite 301 controller, with single ramp to set-point & process timer
  • End zones of 150 mm

Precision Temperature Control Across Three Zones

Each zone in the NACGVC furnace utilizes an independent PID controller, enabling tailored temperature gradients or uniform heat distribution. The digital interface, paired with USB/RS485 connectivity, permits seamless data logging, remote operation, and precise programming for complex processes. This multi-zone approach maximizes flexibility for advanced experimental requirements.

Flexible Design for Broad Applications

The furnace supports both alumina and quartz tube materials, customizable lengths, and diameters. Its ideal for material science, electronics, and ceramics processing among other fields. The chamber accommodates various atmospheric conditions, including air, inert, or vacuum environments, broadening its compatibility with different research or industrial tasks.

Advanced Safety and User-Focused Features

Operator safety is prioritized with integrated protections such as a thermal cut-off, power failure alarm, and interlock switches. High-density ceramic fiber insulation ensures excellent thermal efficiency, while optional fan cooling enhances safety during extended operations. The robust stainless steel exterior extends durability and ensures longevity in rigorous environments.

FAQs of NACGVC - Embedded Element Vertical 3 Zone Tube Furnaces:

Q: How does the independent PID control for each zone benefit the heating process?

A: Each of the three zones features its own PID controller, allowing you to create precise temperature profiles, gradients, or uniformity as needed for advanced research. This ensures improved reproducibility and accuracy during heat treatment or sintering processes.

Q: What kinds of tubes can be used with the NACGVC furnace, and how do I select the right material?

A: The furnace is compatible with both alumina and quartz tubes, which can be selected based on your samples chemical compatibility and temperature requirements. Custom tube dimensions are available, allowing you to configure the furnace to your specific needs.

Q: Where is the NACGVC-Vertical 3 Zone Tube Furnace commonly used?

A: This furnace is widely employed in material science laboratories, ceramics processing, electronics research, and various industrial settings requiring controlled heat treatment and material testing.

Q: What is the process for programming temperature steps or holding times using the digital PID controller?

A: Through the programmable digital PID controller with USB/RS485 interface, users can set multi-step heating profiles, define ramp rates up to 20C/min, and specify dwell periods for each zone independently. The intuitive interface facilitates both manual and automated operation.

Q: How does the furnace ensure operational safety during use?

A: Safety is integral, with mechanisms including a thermal cut-off to prevent overheating, a power failure alarm, and a door switch interlock system to protect operators during loading and unloading.

Q: What are the benefits of the high-density ceramic fiber insulation in this furnace?

A: This insulation minimizes heat loss, improves energy efficiency, maintains stable temperatures, and protects users from external heat, supporting high-temperature operations up to 1600C.

Q: When is fan cooling recommended over natural convection in this furnace?

A: Fan cooling is advised for high-throughput or extended operations to enhance cooling efficiency and protect furnace components, while natural convection is suitable for most routine laboratory applications.
